JOSHUA TREE - VASSANTA / VARIOUS ARTISTS (2008) In 2008, shooting in Joshua Tree was the first step in the journey that is now my life's passion via a gathering of international models and photographers. I met many creative partners that would shape my artistic journey for the next 10 years and remain some of my best personal friends. With Vassanta, as the sun was just rising and sleep still in her eyes, we created one of my iconic images, "Russian Hat" with tumbleweeds abounding. It was an incredible experience exploring the landscape for shooting locations and creating with the other talented artists (Joceline, Candice, Amber, Ida, Rebecca). Each offered their unique talents and looks to make it a memorable creative experience.
PT REYES SEASHORE / MARIN HEADLANDS / WINE COUNTRY VILLA (2009) In 2009, My long time friend/collaborator Vassanta and I toured one of my favorite parts of the US - San Francisco, the Marin County Headlands, and Point Reyes Seashore. Then we drove up the coast to Bodega Bay (town of Hitchcock's "The Birds" fame) and thru the Wine Country. We captured fabulous Golden Hour shots on the cliffs and caves of Point Reyes, found an abandoned oyster farm in an estuary (where I lost a boot in the muck), and the flowered cliffs and almost black sand beaches outside of Bodega Bay. At one time, it scared the hell out of me when a sneaker wave suddenly burst over the boulder she was posing on and threatened to pull her out to sea. We then were blessed to stay at a friend's place in the Wine Country overlooking the valley below.
JOSHUA TREE - CAITIE (2016) In 2016, eight years after my first visit to Joshua Tree, I returned with Caitie. We stayed in a fabulous place with a modern working outhouse on the edge of the desert with no neighbors. In addition to shooting some beautiful images in the park, we used our place to shoot some Desert Glamour with the tank located on the property. We shot this funny concept that resulted in one of my fav images - "Outhouse Wonder Woman". Wearing her Comic Con WW costume to show WW trying to relax on a desert vacation being hounded by paparazzi. We portrayed WW as kind of slutty in her off time and really pissed about photographers interrupting her time off...not even letting her take care of business without interfering! For the outhouse shot, we tried to find a porn magazine as a prop, but had to settle for Sports Illustrated when no porn could be found. The town is on the edge of a Marine base and you can't find porn??!! Marine's today must be better behaved than I remember when I was in the Service :)
