On our first trip to Cuba, Vassanta and I hiked in the mountains of Vinales in the western part of the island. This is primarily known as the tabacco growing region of the famous Cuban cigars. However another thing the region is know for are its Mogotes. These are massive formations of limestone with almost vertical sides rising up from the plains. The only other place these types of formations exist are Vietnam and China. Scouting for locations, we hiked along a ridgeline in the mountains to get a lookout of the valley and mogates below. We did some shooting along the trail and at the lookout , getting creative with palm fronds.
